The city of Austin has issued a request for information (RFI) on behalf of its electrical utility, Austin Energy (AE), regarding an E911 solution.

The requested solution must be integrated with AE’s current telephony systems to bring the utility to 100 percent compliance with all laws and standards, including RAY BAUM’s Act and Kari’s Law.

Compliance requirements include allowing users on a multiline telephone system to direct-dial 911 and notifying a central location without delaying calls.

The solution must also allow employees to work onsite at any AE facility or remotely via a software client on laptops or mobile devices.

AE requires an out-of-the-box solution that will not need source code revisions to meet the listed requirements.

More detailed information about RFI 1100 TLG6001, including all minimum requirements and requested services, can be found online. The deadline for responses is 2 p.m. June 18. Tracey Gettridge is the point of contact for this RFI.
