The city of Austin is hiring an IT project manager.
According to the job posting, the chosen candidate will be responsible for “developing charter, project scope, resource requirements, work plans, time schedules, communication plans and creating work assignments to meet project or program objectives,” as well as “writing RFPs, managing vendor contracts, performance, deliverables and payments.”
The chosen applicant must have experience leading complex IT projects; collaborating with cross-functional teams; and preparing and managing budgets, IT services procurements, hardware and software, RFP development, statements of work and contract and vendor management, among other requirements.
The city also requires knowledge, skills and abilities including fiscal planning, budget preparation, IT project management principles, system development, application programming, XML, data interfaces, network architecture, operating principles, information systems hardware and software, project management software, process model development and more.
The listing calls for an applicant with a bachelor’s degree and six years of experience in a related field, with the option to substitute experience for up to four years of education or a master’s degree for up to two years of experience.
