The Bell County Commissioners Court last week approved five cybersecurity grant applications totaling more than $635,510, the Temple Daily Telegram reported.

The grant applications are for the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP), which will be administered through the Office of the Governor (OOG). The Department of Information Resources (DIR) is providing subject matter expertise for the program.

The grants would go toward the Bell County Technology Services Department and the Bell County 911 Communications Department, according to the report.

Three applications are for the governance and planning, assessment and evaluation and mitigation purposes for the Technology Services Department — with a total value of $125,000 — and funding matches of $12,500 were included in the commissioners’ consent agenda.

Two applications for mitigation and workforce development purposes for the 911 Communications Department — with a total value of $510,510 — and funding matches of $51,051 were also included in the consent agenda.

Bell County has about 370,000 residents and 1,322 employees. Its total general revenue is $145.4 million for FY2024.
