According to the job posting and brochure, the candidate should have leadership experience in an IT setting with at least five years of management experience, a four-year degree and relevant certifications.
A successful candidate will understand leadership methods and applications, be a problem solver and have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Applicants should be familiar with and knowledgeable in:
- Data center infrastructure and server operating systems
- IT management frameworks
- Current network technologies, standards, protocols and hardware
- Voice over IP
- Basics of radio communications
IT’s mission is to provide “reliable, innovative and cost-effective technology solution that enable our departmental business partners to deliver high-quality services to the citizens of Garland,” according to the proposed 2023-24 city budget. The city has about 240,000 residents, according to Census data.
The position is open until filled with priority review of candidates by Oct. 10. The city launched a new application system this month, where the posting is listed.
The salary isn't stated, but the post lists it as commiserate with experience with benefits and director-level perks.
