City of Leander Approves $2.3M IT Budget

The IT budget is about $246,000 more than the city’s estimated spending in the last fiscal year.

The city of Leander’s Fiscal Year 2025 adopted budget includes multiple upcoming tech procurements and $2.3 million for the IT Department.

The IT budget is about $246,000 more than the city estimates spending in FY 2024. The department’s capital outlay is $220,000.

Notable budgeted expenses for the department include about $630,000 for software maintenance and subscriptions, $200,000 for computer hardware and $18,000 for software acquisition.

Outside of the IT Department, the city plans to use $5.6 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to construct an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system that will automate its utility meter reading process. The total AMI budget for the fiscal year is $15.8 million.
