City Planning for Technical Upgrades and Replacements

McKinney will spend more than half-million dollars on supplemental IT items and additional money on court and library items.

McKinney, with about 202,000 residents, has plans to fund multiple technology or technology-related projects over the course of this year. These items can be found in the FY 2022-2023 city budget, and some projects may be underway.

The city has a $652 million budget with an approximate IT budget of $7.6 million, and the IT manager is Sid Hudson, according to its 2022-2023 budget documents. According to the pages, there are 1,494 full-time employees, and the city plans to add more.

Information Technology plans to spend the following:
  • $257,425 for End of Life Isilon – WatchGuard
  • $117,299 on a network firewall upgrade
  • $98,695 for Cradlepoint hardware upgrade
  • $91,000 for CityWorks – Parks work orders
  • $13,500 for professional services

Additional technology plans include updating or replacing court technology, such as security equipment and a digital library expansion.
