One city's Information Systems Department is seeking a request for proposal (RFP) to support and expand the city’s data network and Internet services.

Based on pricing and service availability for each location, Midland may choose more than one vendor.

The city is looking for a vendor(s) that will:
  • Work with city IT staff and its current vendor(s) to migrate from the incumbent’s circuits to the vendor’s circuits, which may be scheduled during non-business hours (may be evenings and/or weekends) with no disruption to services. This may entail a ramp-up approach.
  • Provide its own premise equipment at no charge, including any monitoring devices.
  • Monitor the performance of its premise equipment.
  • Ensure all installed vendor-owned hardware containing software and firmware has the latest version applied to all components.
  • Detail its methodology for providing detection and protection against DoS and DNS attacks at no additional charge.
  • Guarantee bandwidth leased by city is dedicated solely to the city from the defined demarcation points. The vendor will provide customer bandwidth allocation and network design strategies employed to mitigate oversubscription.

Proposals will be accepted until 2 p.m. Sept. 9. Proposals may be mailed or delivered to: City Secretary, City of Midland Suite 340, P.O. BOX 1152, Midland, Texas 79702-1153 (300 N. Loraine, Suite 340 Midland, TX 79701).
