Comptroller Finalizing BOOT II Programming

The Texas comptroller announced last week that 24 broadband projects are being awarded connectivity funds.

The State Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA) will be awarding $701.9 million in its second round for Bringing Online Opportunities to Texas Program (BOOT II).

Projects across 24 counties will be funded, and 15 projects have been finalized. They are being funded by the federal Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund and the Texas Broadband Infrastructure Fund.

To qualify, proposed projects must meet the following criteria:
  • The project is located in a designated area considered eligible by the Broadband Development Office for funding.
  • The project invests in capital assets designed to directly enable work, education and health monitoring.
  • The project is designed to address a critical need in the community to be served by it.
  • The project will be designed to address a critical need that results from or was made apparent or exacerbated by the COVID-19 public health emergency.
