The city of Dallas has issued a request for information (RFI) from vendors specializing in permitting, licensing and land management with experience implementing artificial intelligence (AI) into their solutions.

The city has inquired about common and effective use cases, procurement and licensing models, governance functions, success measurement, acceptable-use policies, key considerations and existing action plans.

More detailed information about RFI No. BY24-00024699, including all submission requirements and requests, can be found online. Question submissions are due at 1 p.m. June 28. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. July 12.

Various cities and agencies in the state have already begun implementing AI in a variety of functions, including the Texas Department of Transportation and the cities of McKinney and Fort Worth.

State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (R-98), chair of the Investment in Information Technology Improvement, Oversight Committee and the bipartisan Innovation and Technology Caucus of the Texas Legislature, outlined a framework for legislation regarding AI at the first AI stakeholder meeting in May.
