Dallas College Names Michael Anderson as CISO

Dallas College has named Michael Anderson as its new chief information security officer.

“I’m happy to share that I’ve started a new position as chief information security officer at Dallas College,” Anderson wrote in a LinkedIn post announcing his appointment. “After six years of dedicated public service, I’m ready to pour that experience into my new role.”


In the post, Anderson said he is particularly focused on digital and IT transformation, with an emphasis on the convergence of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. “My goal is to harness the power of AI to strengthen our defenses while ensuring that our adoption of emerging technologies remains secure, resilient and student-focused,” he wrote.

Anderson brings more than 27 years of experience in technology leadership across education, government and enterprise environments. Prior to joining Dallas College, he held senior cybersecurity and technology leadership roles at large public-sector organizations, including Dallas Independent School District and Dallas County, where he served as chief information security officer and chief privacy officer.

His private-sector professional background also includes work as a fractional CISO and technology consultant, as well as experience leading large technology teams, overseeing multimillion-dollar technology portfolios, and building enterprise security and privacy programs.

Anderson holds a Master of Science in information systems and technology management from Capella University and a Bachelor of Science in computer and information sciences from Bellevue University.
