The Dallas County budget will be $1.7 billion this fiscal year with about $81.1 million for the major technology fund.

This year, the county will use these funds to address aspects of last year’s stark Gartner study, which listed multiple system failures, funding gaps and a lack of leadership.

The county will also purchase hardware and contracts out of this fund, according to its Fiscal Year 2025 budget documents.

The Office of Information Technology, under a separate budget line, will have $53.1 million.

Planned technology spending above $1 million includes:
  • $10.4 million in the capital budget for computer hardware
  • $6.1 million for telephones and $1.2 million for cellular phones
  • $5.1 million for professional fees
  • $5.8 million for a data processing contract
The Commissioners Court approved the budget in September, and it took effect Oct 1.
