The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has launched a public portal for the collection of public feedback regarding the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, which becomes effective on July 1.

Established by the Texas Legislature in 2023 with the passing of House Bill 4, the act is meant to regulate consumer data collection, use, processing and treatment.

DIR announced the portal’s launch on LinkedIn, where the agency also specified the portal’s closing as Sept. 30.

The agency is requesting feedback from both consumers and businesses through the portal. According to the DIR website, the agency is required to publish a report detailing “any recommendations to the Legislature regarding changes to the law.”
