The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) is hiring a program specialist to act as its Innovation Lab technology coordinator.
DIR’s Innovation Lab is the state’s facility for testing emerging technology, educating state agencies on technology best practices and partnering with vendors on new solutions.
According to the job posting, the program specialist will perform senior-level program coordination, consultative services and technical work while also providing technical assistance to state agencies and DIR customers.
The hardware strategy and life cycle branch manager reports to the chief technology officer, John Hoffman.
Responsibilities listed in the posting include coordinating technical training, research, providing high-level technical assistance, leading complex program implementations, overseeing the execution of proofs of concept, reviewing project parameters, ensuring compliance with program policies and more.
The listing calls for an applicant with a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in business, computer science or a related field, with the option to substitute relevant work experience on a year-per-year basis. Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience managing complex programs and another five developing guidelines, procedures and/or regulations. Familiarity with various software development life cycles is also required.
