The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has issued a request for information (RFI) regarding an enterprise licensing platform to replace its current legacy licensing systems.
DPS has multiple legacy systems nearing end-of-life and is looking to replace them with a unified platform under a single system.
According to the RFI, proposed solutions must be capable of serving “two million (approximate) regulatory license holders, approximately 400 internal agency users, and the general public on demand,” with room for scalability.
DPS will consider software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions that are able to meet its disaster recovery and scalability requirements. It has also requested a web-based customer portal for license application submissions with supporting documents, interfaces across various state managed systems, a workflow engine for assigning tasks across different teams, and the ability to create and issue licenses based on different business rules.
According to HB 1, DPS has $4.9 million in its capital budget for driver’s license technology upgrades and $22.5 million for a license to carry and agency licensing platform in its Fiscal Year 2024 budget.
