ERCOT Seeks Partners for Distribution Platform Proof of Concept

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is searching for a partner in its mission to develop a proof of concept of a custom ERCOT distribution awareness platform (EDAP).

ERCOT, the supplier for about 90 percent of the state’s power, issued a request for proposals (RFP) detailing the council’s need for a centralized, on-premises software solution to host operational data received from ERCOT providers.

ERCOT’s desired system will interface with its energy management system (EMS), advanced distribution management system (ADMS), distributed energy resource management system (DERM) and demand energy response management system (DERMS).

The council’s concept is a platform that can capture functional model information for distributed generation devices, modify and group connected devices, display device hierarchy, receive operational data from individual providers, aggregate operational analog information, view operational information, view historical records and more.

The proof of concept will be used to guide ERCOT in developing a phased approach for the system’s complete implementation, with this initial term lasting from the date of award through May 5, 2026.
