Former DIR Procurement Chief Becomes Private-Sector CEO

Hershel Becker joined Signature Advisory Partners LLC as chief executive officer in August.

The former chief procurement officer (CPO) for the Department of Information Resources (DIR), Hershel Becker, who served the department for seven years, has retired from the public sector to join Signature Advisory Partners as CEO. Signature Advisory Partners is a public procurement resource serving both government entities and vendors.

As CPO for the DIR, Becker helped launch the Innovative Procurement Lab, which streamlined procurement processes and facilitated over $3 billion in annual sales during his time at the department. In addition to his time as CPO, Becker previously served the state as the deputy director for contract operations at the Texas Office of the Attorney General for over 12 years, eight of which he also served as the agency’s representative of the Contract Advisory Team.

In a statement to Industry Insider — Texas via email, Becker said:

“Retiring from state service and leaving the Texas Department of Information Resources at the end of July 2023 was a difficult decision, but I am hoping to apply the valuable IT contracting experiences that I have gained over the past few decades to this new endeavor where I can dedicate all of my efforts helping with public-sector technology procurement.”
