Former VP of Municipal Solutions Provider Moves to Research Firm

The longtime leader most recently founded a nonprofit youth organization.

An experienced business development executive, with over 25 years of media and enterprise sales and service experience, has been named a senior account executive for a major research firm.

Mike Jones has been hired as a senior account executive at Gartner, working in Texas. He has a long history as a leader.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he most recently worked at Sports United USA, a company he founded in 2008 to bring diverse communities together through sports. Its final project brought together the varsity football teams from Dallas Carter and Dallas Jesuit high schools for a locker room renovation and skills camp.

Before Sports United USA, he was the vice president of global business development — SaaS municipal government notification system for Citify in Austin.

He was the president of media advisory firm NCAA Licensing for 11 years, and he was the director of enterprise sales at Atmosphere for seven months. Before that, he was the vice president of video solutions at Apogee for five years, and he worked for IMG in NCAA multimedia/event sales. His earlier work included stints at ESPN (multimedia sales) and ABC Radio (content distribution).

Jones attained an MBA from Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business in 2005. He studied mass communications, broadcast media at Texas State University.
