Frontier Communications, a telecommunications provider with more than 14,000 employees in 25 states, is relocating its headquarters to Dallas.
According to a press release, the company projects the move will create 3,000 jobs in Texas in the next decade. Frontier also promises to boost the local and state economy by $3.8 billion with investments in fiber technology, starting with spending approximately $1 million weekly on upgrading its fiber network in Dallas.
Dallas’ City Council designated Frontier’s new 95,000-square-foot office on McKinney Avenue as an enterprise zone in August, with the conditions that the company invest $7 million in renovating and expanding the location and that it maintain at least 500 jobs in the city. The tax incentives that come with the designation helped push Frontier into choosing Dallas above its other major consideration, Tampa, Fla.
Currently based in Norwalk, Conn., Frontier will not be transferring its Norwalk employees to Dallas. Instead, the McKinney Avenue office expansion will accommodate Frontier’s 638 employees already based in Dallas.
