General Land Office to Hire Director of IT Operations

The Texas General Land Office is hiring a director of IT operations to lead strategic planning and day-to-day execution across the agency’s information technology infrastructure and enterprise services.

The director, working in the IT Services Department, will oversee all facets of IT service delivery, including network architecture, enterprise platforms and support systems, with a focus on operational efficiency, service quality and cybersecurity readiness. Responsibilities include developing operational policies and disaster recovery protocols, managing vendor contracts and driving innovation in the agency’s technology environment.

The position is based in Austin and reports to agency leadership with minimal supervision. It requires extensive decision-making authority and independent judgment. Additional duties include oversight of compliance efforts, financial planning and workforce development.

Applicants must have at least 10 years of experience in IT leadership, operations or a related field as well as experience in vendor management, enterprise scaling, regulatory compliance and interdepartmental collaboration.

Compensation ranges from $12,300-$13,300 per month. The deadline to apply is May 16.
