Health-Care District Seeks Proposals for Password Management Software

The software should be standalone, easy to use and encourage strong password hygiene.

A Texas health-care district is seeking password management software that can accommodate at least 1,500 licenses with “flexibility to add 500” and withdraw as needed.

The Travis County Healthcare District, which does business as Central Health, is a special district created in 2004 to serve low-income, homeless and otherwise underserved Travis County residents, according to its website.

“Central Health acknowledges that the protection of user credentials is vital to cybersecurity standards within our enterprise,” according to the request for proposal (RFP). The purpose of this request is to equip our users with a tool that can store, generate and manage the numerous, complex passwords our users require to conduct their day-to-day work.”

The tool should:
  • Enable password governance.
  • Improve password practices.
  • Decrease duplicate passwords.
  • Generate complex passwords.

Full details and a rubric can be found at Texas SmartBuy, where the agency’s ESBD number is B0006. The single contract has four optional one-year renewals.

Proposals are due at 2 p.m. Aug. 1, and Central Health encourages submissions via the BidSync portal. Paper proposals will also be accepted, according to the RFP, but online is preferred.
