HHS Tech and Employees by the Numbers

Health and Human Services recently held a vendor briefing, and leadership gave the audience a snapshot of its workforce and customer support responsibilities.

Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) continues to grow, as does its technical needs, serving 7.5 million Texans and counting.

Here’s a snapshot of HHS employee numbers and some end-user tech, as mentioned during an Oct. 4 HHS vendor briefing.

HHS IT supports Texans with 500 applications, 120 websites and 54 call centers that handle 41,000 calls. The procurement division has more than 250 employees.

HHS also has:
  • 45,000-49,000 agency contracts per year
  • 53,000 agency employees
  • 2,019 IT employees
  • 22 purchasing agents specifically for IT
  • 8,000 servers
  • 60,000 laptops and phones
The agency posts contracting information and vendor training online.
