Hill College Promotes CIO Kevin Rocha to Vice President of IT

Hill College has promoted Kevin Rocha to vice president of information technology and learning innovation, a role that expands his responsibilities as chief information officer while deepening his oversight of academic technology services.


Rocha steps into the position after two years serving as the college’s executive director of IT and CIO. In this elevated role, he now oversees not only IT operations and cybersecurity but also Hill College’s libraries and Educational Technology Services. The promotion reflects the college’s ongoing strategy to align digital infrastructure with learning innovation to better serve students and faculty.

Rocha brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education technology leadership. He joined Hill College in 2023 from the University of North Texas at Dallas after nearly 15 years, serving as CIO and director of esports in the last five years of his tenure.

Prior to his time in Texas, Rocha held several leadership roles at Smith College in Massachusetts over nearly two decades, building a foundation in IT service delivery and academic support technologies.

Since his arrival, Rocha has led a modernization of Hill College’s IT infrastructure, significantly improving service delivery and enhancing cybersecurity protections. In his new role, Rocha is focused on strengthening the integration between IT services and academic tools.

“I am committed to driving strategic advancements that integrate cutting-edge technology with innovative learning practices,” Rocha said in an announcement. “By bridging IT infrastructure with these vital learning services, we look to cultivate a collaborative, efficient and forward-thinking environment that positions Hill College at the forefront of educational excellence.”

Rocha holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a certification in IT service management.
