The Houston Health Department and Harris County Public Health have launched a joint online hub that brings regional public health dashboards and reports together in one place, creating a single site for information on health issues affecting residents across Houston and Harris County.

The Houston-Harris County Joint Public Health Data and Reporting Hub features interactive dashboards and reports from both departments, according to a press release issued April 13. The release says the dashboards present data through charts and visuals, while the reports offer insight into community health, recent trends, actions underway and recommendations for community partners.

The initiative page is housed within the Houston Health Department’s Population Health Indicators section, part of a broader public-data effort that includes dashboards used by researchers, policymakers, health-care professionals and residents. Elsewhere on the department’s site, public-facing tools track issues such as extreme heat and wastewater monitoring, including weekly viral load data tied to COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

The departments said the hub includes information on infectious diseases and emerging threats, environmental health and climate impacts, injury and violence prevention, maternal and child health, chronic disease, and community health assessments and strategic planning.

In the release, Houston Health Department Director Dr. Theresa Tran said access to clear and reliable information helps people make informed decisions for themselves and their families. Harris County Public Health Executive Director Leah Barton said the hub is intended to make health data more available to the public, researchers and local partners while supporting a more complete picture of health across the city and county.

The two agencies said the effort reflects their ongoing collaboration and is intended to support data-informed decisions, strengthen programs and improve community health.
