Houston Plans to Spend $12.2M on IT Procurements in Q2

According to the city's procurement plan, a vast majority of the projected spending will be focused in its Fleet Management Department.

The city of Houston plans to spend about $12.2 million on IT services, hardware and solutions in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2025.

A vast majority of the projected spending, about $11 million, will be focused in the city’s Fleet Management Department, which has two major service needs:
  • $6.4 million for GPS devices, monitoring and tracking services
  • $4.2 million for software licensing, maintenance, support, related hardware and professional services
The city’s IT Services Department follows with $690,000 in hardware maintenance, software license subscriptions and renewals, including:
  • VMware licenses: $205,886.15
  • Infoblox premium support renewal: $81,744.59
  • SeeClickFix: $79,000
  • Citrix NetScaler support renewal: $77,797.36
  • NetMotion Mobility support renewal: $56,000
  • Computer supplies: $55,573
Houston’s Human Resources accounts for $450,000 in future software requests:
  • HR operations software: $21,370
  • Online safe driving courses: $30,000
  • HR operations recruiting software: $48,000
  • HR operations software: $200,000
  • Qualtrics processing portal: $100,000
  • IT-phone/spreadsheet software: $50,000
Other notable planned procurements include $250,000 for the Legal Department’s IT hardware, $75,000 for optimizing the Houston Emergency Center’s online emergency operations center, and $20,000 for the Municipal Courts Department’s hardware and software purchases.
