Jefferson County has approved a $187 million general fund budget for Fiscal Year 2025–2026, including more than $5.3 million in technology-related spending across departments.
The county’s Management Information Systems Department is slated to receive $2.7 million in operating funds for personnel, systems maintenance, software licensing and IT services. An additional $2.1 million is allocated through capital outlay for infrastructure upgrades, security tools and enterprise software.
Planned IT projects include the replacement of 250 desktop computers, a domain controller server refresh, SAN storage upgrades and expanded firewall support for both county facilities and Doggett Ford Park. The county will also invest in Office 365 licenses, centralized backup systems and asset discovery tools to improve visibility across the network.
Enterprise platforms make up a significant portion of the capital investment. Budget documents show $844,000 set aside for services from Tyler Technologies and $152,000 for CentralSquare’s annual fees. Other line items include monitored security via Arctic Wolf, email protection services and license renewals for identity management and access tools.
Technology upgrades extend beyond the core IT office. The Sheriff’s Office is budgeted for Toughbook laptops, CAD/RMS software and a digital evidence management platform, totaling more than $577,000 in combined technology outlays.
The Tax Assessor-Collector’s office will replace cameras and upgrade Opex hardware and software. Human Resources, the County Auditor, County Clerk and District Clerk have also allocated funds for computers, onboarding systems and specialty software.
The new budget will take effect Oct. 1.
