Matt Reed has joined Tenable as a territory account manager in Texas, where he will focus on helping state and government agencies unify their security tools and take what he described as a more comprehensive approach to protecting their environments.

Reed, who is based in Austin, began the role in January. He said his work will center on helping public agencies connect complex technology environments spanning cloud, identity, operational technology and AI.

“As a Texas native — born and raised here with my entire family still in-state — it’s a privilege to support the agencies that keep our home running and families safe,” Reed told Industry Insider — Texas. “My experience in the partner ecosystem revealed the sprawling complexity of modern IT — from cloud and identity to OT and now AI — while always prioritizing the customer. Tenable excites me because we're the ‘connective tissue’ that ties these environments together and are proven best.”

Before joining Tenable, Reed was a senior account executive at AMS.NET, part of MGT, from June 2024, delivering integrated cybersecurity frameworks in state, local and education markets. Prior to that, he spent more than five years at AT&T, where he held a series of sales roles focused on enterprise accounts, Internet of Things (IoT) and software-as-a-service (SaaS) initiatives.

At AT&T, Reed’s experience included work on IT infrastructure, original equipment manufacturer and independent software vendor solutions, IoT strategy and SaaS sales. According to his LinkedIn profile, he helped develop a $33 million business portfolio across 70 accounts and was part of a $48 million Lucid Motors connected car deal in 2022.

Reed said consolidation and unification are becoming more important as agencies face resource constraints and mounting security responsibilities. At Tenable, he said he sees an opportunity to help organizations bring fragmented environments together in a way that improves visibility and strengthens protection.

Reed holds a Bachelor of Arts in strategy and advertising from Texas Tech University.
