MD Anderson Requests Radiation Oncology Information System

The requested system must support the clinical processes, clinical research, billing/administration and workflows of the center’s Radiation Oncology (RO) division.

The University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for an enterprise-wide radiation oncology information system (rOIS).

The requested rOIS must support the clinical processes, clinical research, billing/administration and workflows of the center’s Radiation Oncology (RO) division.

Some of the minimum general requirements for the rOIS listed in the RFP include allowing at least 400 concurrent users with potential for expansion as requested, the ability to generate complete copies of records for inspection by the FDA or other accrediting agencies, role-based access control, calendar integration, treatment plan management and complete integration with MD Anderson’s EHR system.

Listed specifications for the rOIS include manual treatment data recording capabilities, connection to MD Anderson’s machines for simulations, treatments and recording and verifying radiation dosages, tracking and resuming interrupted treatments, tracking document approvals and signatures, digital object export capabilities, treatment prevention capabilities in the event of incomplete or unapproved documentation and more.

MD Anderson has also requested implementation services, end user and administrator training, regular user conferences and workshops and a comprehensive problem response and resolution methodology.
