Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) CIO Anh Selissen will speak at the next Industry Insider — Texas Member Briefing on Feb. 29, one in a series of selective events where agency CIOs talk about IT goals, budgets, upcoming projects and solutions.

Selissen, who was recently awarded CIO of the Year at the Texas IT Leadership Forum in Austin, has worked to modernize the agency’s customer experience since arriving in 2019. The TxDOT IT shop has 200 full-time employees and about 300 contractors. The agency has the second-largest operating budget in the state.

TxDOT is responsible for about 80,000 miles of roads: interstates, U.S. highways, state highways, farm-to-market roads, ranch-to-market roads, frontage roads, pass routes, park roads and recreational roads.

Regarding IT that supports the agency and constituents, its budget requests indicated that the agency hoped to spend $39 million on modernization, $27 million on tech replacements and upgrades, and $12.4 million on enterprise IT.

The exclusive, members-only event will include time for audience Q&A.

Selissen will speak at 10 a.m. Feb. 29 at the Hilton Garden Inn Austin North, 2600 Brockton Drive. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. For information on attending, contact Brad Loebs at bloebs@erepublic.com.
