Member Briefing to Feature Two Public-Sector Tech Leaders

The members-only event in Austin will feature the CIO of the state Department of Agriculture and the IT director of the Texas Office of Court Administration.

Industry Insider — Texas will have a member briefing with Bruce Hermes, chief information officer of the Texas Department of Agriculture, and Casey Kennedy, director of Information Services for the Texas Office of Court Administration.

Kennedy, who has been with the state more than 20 years, has been with the Office of Court Administration since 2010. He leads a staff that provides “direct IT services to the Supreme Court of Texas, Court of Criminal Appeals, the 14 intermediate appellate courts and five judicial branch agencies,” according to his LinkedIn profile.

Hermes, who has been in public-sector IT for more than four decades, has been the Department of Agriculture’s CIO since 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile. The agency is looking to modernize its licensing system during the next biennium.

The April 27 event offers Industry Insider — Texas members the opportunity to learn more about both state agencies’ IT plans, priorities and future projects.
