Boone identified public safety, infrastructure, financial stability, customer service, economic development and quality of life as top priorities for the council and city, according to the Beaumont Enterprise. His technology-related goal is to modernize Beaumont’s outdated computer system, which dates to the 1980s, as part of his early effort to align city operations and the budget with updated City Council goals.
The aging system makes it difficult for the city to analyze data, run reports and identify inefficiencies, and replacing it could take several years.
The technology issue also connects to Boone’s customer service goals. According to Boone, improving service will depend in part on giving city staff the tools and information they need to respond more effectively to residents.
Information Technology accounts for $6.6 million of Beaumont’s $177.3 million FY 2026 General Fund budget.
The planned modernization work could make Beaumont’s budget process and future council agendas key places to watch for more detail on system replacement, customer service tools and internal IT needs.
