The city is engaged in an extensive cybersecurity program to identify the risk posture of systems and networks, according to the RFP. Houston wants to proactively and aggressively protect the critical infrastructure of the city against cyber terrorism to ensure the ability to perform mission-critical operations at all times.
The selected IT professional services firm will assist the city with technology initiatives related to cybersecurity.
Those initiatives include:
- Mapping critical systems communications and data flows.
- Developing systems security plans for critical systems.
- Assessing and reviewing technology project priorities ensuring security engineering is considered.
The vendor will also provide:
- Systems security plans for about 20 critical systems.
- Plan of actions and milestones (POAM) for missing controls.
- Data and information flow diagrams.
This is a three-year contract with two one-year options.
