Parks and Wildlife Adopts New Asset Management System

The agency that oversees 640,000 acres of parks and other sites will use an OpenGov platform.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) recently adopted a new platform for asset management and reporting, according to a news release.

The Cartegraph Asset Management platform from OpenGov provides a mobile application, which the agency lacked.

According to the company, features of the software include:
  • Cloud based
  • Combines asset management and work orders
  • Provides detailed reporting capabilities
  • Automates workflows
TPWD oversees 89 state parks, historic sites and natural areas across 640,000 acres, according to its website, and is working toward more innovative solutions in managing them.

The upcoming state biennial budget allocates $1.5 billion for 2024 and $447.5 million for 2025 to TPWD, plus another combined $212 million for capital budget items. The agency will have about $18 million for IT spending in each year.
