Urbach most recently worked in New York as a senior manager of smart city partnerships for Rubicon.
Regarding his new position with the city, he posted: “I’m passionate about how civically minded and collaboratively built technology can play an important role in providing better services, improving resiliency, and creating more equitable communities.”
Urbach previously worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Summit Strategies Government Affairs, Ball Janik, the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate.
He attained a Master of Public Administration from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in government, business from the University of Texas at Austin. He has also studied city/urban, community and regional planning at Georgetown University and earned a certificate for delivering public-private transportation projects from the Eno Center for Transportation.
