San Antonio Seeking Info on Utility Distribution Planning Software

The city has issued two requests for information on behalf of CPS Energy for forecasting and modeling software.

San Antonio
The city of San Antonio has issued two requests for information (RFIs) related to utility distribution planning software on behalf of CPS Energy.

The first RFI, No. 7900100050, is for distribution planning forecasting software.

CPS Energy is seeking a software solution that can provide an Annual Load Data Request (ALDR), a load profile that looks back at least one year, a load forecast that looks forward five years and training and support.

The requested ALDR must provide a 10-year load forecast to meet NERC standard requirements.

Load profiles must produce clear and concise reports with historical values for load growth, electric vehicles, distributed energy resources, population growth and weather.

Load forecasts must predict the same values, incorporate weather impact on the forecast, integrate with CYME and potentially identify areas in need of additional capacity long term.

The second RFI, No. 7900100051, is for distribution planning modeling software.

CPS Energy is seeking a software solution that will provide planning tools for daily distribution planning, distributed generation, distribution automation and protection, one-lines and GIS support and training and support.

The planning tools should provide analysis on steady state load flow, cable ampacity and motor starting. Cable, overhead conductor and equipment databases, a map overlay and equipment ratings have also been requested.

More detailed information about RFIs No. 7900100050 and No. 7900100051, including all minimum requirements and requested services, can be found online. The deadline for question submissions is Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. The due date for respondent information submittals is Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. Taylor Dow is the point of contact for both RFIs.
