Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District (SCUC ISD) voters have approved $9.1 million in bond funding for student and staff technology devices, according to preliminary results posted by the district.
Proposition C passed with 69 percent support, the highest approval rate among the district’s three bond propositions on the May 2 ballot. The measure was part of a larger $295 million bond package that also included separate propositions for general facilities and stadium facilities.
The technology proposition is designated for replacement devices, including computers, iPads and Chromebooks for students and staff. District bond materials describe Proposition C as focused on technology devices, separating it from broader facility, safety and infrastructure work included elsewhere in the bond package.
The district’s Board of Trustees called the election after receiving a recommendation from a Community Advisory Committee. The committee reviewed district needs before recommending a package divided among general facilities, stadium facilities and technology devices.
The technology funding was placed before voters as a separate proposition, rather than being included in the general facilities measure. Proposition A covered campus and facility work, while Proposition B covered stadium projects. Proposition C was limited to student and staff technology devices.
The district’s bond site says project information will be tracked as the work moves from voter approval toward implementation.
