Before joining ServiceNow, Black spent more than four years at Appian Corporation, where he helped clients automate and orchestrate complex workflows. During that time, he also served the public as a board member for the city of Round Rock’s Transportation and Economic Development Corporation, a seven-member entity that supports infrastructure and economic development initiatives funded through sales tax revenue.
Earlier in his career, Black held account executive roles at Gartner, where he worked closely with large state agencies in Texas to support IT modernization. He also spent nearly nine years at Dow Jones in various leadership positions, including director of risk and compliance and global account manager. His clients included federal agencies and Fortune 500 firms, and his work involved selling risk intelligence tools and managing multimillion-dollar portfolios.
Black began his career in business development at the UK-based sales training firm Pareto Law. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Leeds and has completed an executive program on AI for business strategy at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
"I am excited to join ServiceNow and believe in their mission to become the defining enterprise software company of the 21st century," Black told Industry Insider — Texas. "With strong leadership, continuous innovation and meaningful acquisitions such as Moveworks and data.world, ServiceNow is well positioned to help customers take advantage of the AI digital revolution. My goals are to help my state and local customer base put AI to work to drive meaningful change and better serve their citizens."
