State Agencies Recruiting for Specialty Tech Positions

The Texas Education Agency and Public Utility Commission of Texas are both hiring IT roles, including one leadership position.

Two state agencies are recruiting for specialty positions, including a senior product strategy and operations director and an IT security analyst.

The Texas Education Agency seeks a senior director of product strategy and operations to oversee “a cohesive operations vision and strategy to support product development of all state-owned instructional materials."

“This individual must lead the development of operational systems and structures and ensure effective use of systems across teams and stakeholders to achieve key strategic goals focused on supporting school systems,” the job posting reads.

Duties of the position include:

  • Overseeing a cohesive vision and strategy to develop strong operational systems and processes to support developing, accessing and training high-quality instructional materials, licensed as Open Education Resources (OER), in alignment with district needs and the Texas Education Code
  • Developing and implementing operational systems and processes to support the development of instructional materials
  • Overseeing operations systems to proactively support stakeholder engagement and feedback in developing and implementing high-quality instructional materials
  • Ensuring all State Board of Education (SBOE) instructional materials related to review processes and deliverables, as outlined in the Texas Education Code, are developed in alignment with SBOE and agency leadership requests
  • Recruiting, developing and retaining a high-performing service-oriented team dedicated to supporting the development of viable, high-quality products

The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) seeks an IT security analyst to oversee, plan, implement and monitor security measures to protect the agency’s information systems and infrastructure. The job is considered a hybrid role with telecommuting options for up to three days a week.

The role will help support the agency’s vision of providing “support for the technological needs of the PUCT commissioners, executive management and agency staff members." That includes business systems, computing infrastructure and information security.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with state IT regulatory issues and processes
  • Experience and training in analyzing, recommending, developing and implementing effective enterprisewide policies, standards and guidelines
  • Having or working toward obtaining a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or similar certification
