State Budgets $1.5B for Attorney General’s Office

Among tech projects, the largest allocation is $119 million for data center consolidation, followed by $43 million for data center services modernization.

The state budget signed by Gov. Greg Abbott on June 18 will allocate $1.5 billion to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for the biennium. In 2024, the department will receive $757 million, followed by $716 million in 2025.

Below is a list of information resource technologies, projects and programs that benefit from these funds for both years.

The largest allocation is $119 million for data center consolidation, followed by $43 million for data center services modernization.

Legacy modernization allocations listed include $24.6 million for legal/child support mainframe decommissioning, $9.6 million for IT system modernization and $7.5 million for legal case legacy modernization.

Finally, allocations for planned acquisitions include $700,000 for crime victims management system enhancement and support as well as $200,000 for child support hardware and software enhancements.
