Tarrant County Requests $8.5M IT Capital Budget

The IT network ops/communications general budget also includes a $5.3 million request for software maintenance and licensing, which is more than twice as much as was appropriated for the same commitment item in 2024.

The Tarrant County FY 2025 budget hearing capital request report includes an $8.5 million request for its IT Department.

Most of the request will be used to fund three aspects of the department: $3.3 million for IT network ops/communications, $3.9 million for IT project portfolio management and $1 million for IT service delivery.

Notable items listed in the capital request report are as follows:
  • $1.1 million for a security extended detection and response and managed detection and response solution
  • $1 million for public safety radio fleet replacements
  • $750,000 for L3 switch upgrades
  • $500,000 for a digital assets management system
  • $490,000 for e-file automation
  • $475,000 for a benefits portal or application
  • $350,000 for an SAP retiree portal
  • $250,000 for public access to election results
  • $200,000 for an artificial intelligence bot for attorney appointments
