The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Thursday announced the launch of its Violent-Offender Database, a result of House Bill 5202.

The database, which launched on Dec. 29, 2023, allows users to search for offenders’ information, including their full name, date of birth, photographs and a physical description.

Offenders appearing in the database have been convicted of one or more of the following charges on two or more occasions:
  • Assault
  • Sexual assault
  • Aggravated assault
  • Aggravated sexual assault involving family violence

Offenders convicted of continuous violence against the family, stalking or any combination of the listed offenses are also included.

Searches for offenders are name-based and can be conducted at no cost to users.

According to the department’s press release, DPS developed the database’s website in collaboration with the Texas Council on Family Violence (TCVF).
