The Texas General Land Office (GLO) — which helps fund Texas public education while preserving the state’s history, maximizing state revenue, and managing state lands and natural resources — spent $22.8 million in calendar year 2021.
According to the Texas IT Spending Dashboard on Industry Insider — Texas, the largest spend during that time went to purchased contracted services, at $10.98 million.
The second-largest spend was on IT services, at $3.81 million. Coming in at No. 3 was consultant services — computer, at $2.17 million.
The top three categories accounted for roughly $16.9 million, about 74 percent of GLO’s 2021 expenditures.
By comparison, GLO spent less — $15.1 million in calendar year 2020.
The department's top spend in calendar year 2020 was purchased contracted services at $3.92 million. The second-largest spend in that year was for IT services at $3.39 million. Coming in at No. 3 in 2020 was consultant services — computer, at $1.77 million.
The top three categories accounted for about 60 percent of GLO's 2020 expenditures.
