Some payments were interagency spending, such as those to DIR or the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). TDEM also spends large sums on disaster recovery.
According to the Texas Comptroller’s (CPA) “Payment to Payee” visualization, here are the top five technology companies receiving payments:
- $20.6 million to Rackspace US, which offers IT services and public cloud management
- $14.5 million to Deloitte Consulting, which offers deliverables-based IT services
- $10.6 million to Atos Governmental IT Outsourcing Services, which offers deliverables-based IT services
- $9 million to AT&T, which provides telecommunications, media and technology services
- $6.6 million to Accenture, which offers deliverables-based IT services
As to specific categories, the state spent $119 million on purchased contracted services, $68.5 million on IT services and $46.6 million for computer services to the statewide technology center.
