Data mining services to help monitor public opinion and trends is one of the potential requests for proposals (RFP) the special district has posted on its upcoming opportunities page.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) states it will seek firms that can monitor social media with natural language processing, machine learning and network analysis in real time to produce reports and analytics to guide agency strategy and planning.

DART will also contract with a firm to replace and/or install new closed circuit television systems in various maintenance and bus facilities, rail stations, bus terminals and park-and-ride locations. Projects are to be in separate invitations for bid (IFBs).

A purchase of eight or nine low-floor, 35-foot buses is also listed as a potential RFP.

The transportation system with a 36 million ridership includes buses, light rail, van pool and ride share in a 13-city service area. The annual budget is $580.4 million.

Upcoming opportunities are published one to two months before the expected issuance of RFPs and IFBs, and bid opportunities are published at the supplier portal. The site may be browsed without registering.
