The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has added a new online resource for employers seeking information about childcare-related workplace supports.

The Child Care Resources for Employers webpage was created in response to Senate Bill 1265, passed by the 89th Legislature, and is designed to help employers assess workers’ childcare needs, review potential workplace supports and connect employees with available resources.

The page encourages employers to begin by surveying employees about childcare barriers, including whether workers are having trouble finding care near home or work, whether available care is affordable and what types of care employees need.

The resource outlines several childcare-related options employers may consider, including on-site or near-site childcare, partnerships with community-based providers, childcare financial assistance, dependent care flexible spending accounts, backup childcare, and childcare concierge or marketplace subscriptions.

The page also highlights Employer Child Care Solutions, a TWC program that provides technical assistance to employers with workers in Texas. The program can help employers better understand employee childcare needs and work with providers on site-based childcare options. It does not provide direct funding.

Additional links on the page direct employers and families to resources from Texas Health and Human Services, Early Childhood Texas, Texas Child Care Connection, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and others.
