The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is surveying the market for a new electronic bidding system solution.
According to a request for information (RFI), TxDOT is asking vendors to provide any information on their systems relevant to online bid advertising, including system capabilities, how multiple role-based logins are handled, bonding information, notifications and performance measures.
The agency currently conducts bid advertising via Bonfire in addition to Texas SmartBuy.
TxDOT’s strategic plan for 2025-2029 lists an expected $211 million in expenditures for technology upgrades and $127 million for information systems modernization. House Bill 1 lists $28.3 million for tech upgrades and $36.3 million for systems modernization in the agency’s capital budget for 2025.
