The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is searching for radar vehicle detection systems (RVDS) for its Traffic Safety Division (TRF).
According to the agency’s invitation for bids (IFB), TxDOT requires advance, side fire and presence detection radar systems that can detect vehicles via radar for controlling intersection traffic signals.
The system’s radar advance detection devices must be capable of detecting up to 25 approaching or departing vehicles in up to five lanes of traffic with a minimum of 95 percent accuracy.
The requested system must be compatible with NEMA TS 1, NEMA TS 2 Type 1, Type 2 and Type 170/2070 equipment and meet the temperature, humidity, mechanical shock and vibration requirements of NEMA TS 2.
