The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has listed $367 million in upcoming information technology appropriations in its 2024-2025 biennial budget.

Overall, TxDOT received over $37.2 billion per the 88th Texas Legislature for state highway projects.

According to the department’s biennial budget brochure, TxDOT plans to continue replacing legacy systems listed in its 2024-2025 Facilities Master Plan.

Projects listed in the plan include improvements to TxDOT’s cybersecurity program, system modernization, capital repair projects and security projects.

TxDOT also plans to use its capital funds to “improve TxDOT’s network to accommodate new systems and data demands,” which entails “implementing connected infrastructure to better collect and report on traffic patterns to improve congestion and safety on Texas roads.”

The department’s chief information officer, Anh Selissen, will provide more information about the department’s IT outlook for 2024 at an Industry Insider — Texas Member Briefing on Feb. 29.
