The city of Waco is seeking to improve the operational efficiencies of its transit system with the implementation of a new scheduling software solution.
The main goal of the solution’s implementation is to provide transit service to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) certified paratransit passengers on the same vehicles as general public riders.
The solution must optimize vehicle routing in real time, immediately assign booked passenger trips to driver manifests, co-mingle prescheduled paratransit trips with real-time requests, control fleet operating parameters without vendor intervention, identify optimal pickup and drop-off sequences in real time and more.
The system must feature a live map with replay controls, a wait and trip time simulation tool, live chat support and custom dispatcher views. The agency is looking for an off-the-shelf, passenger-facing application that is Android and iOS compatible.
The passenger application must allow users to search for, schedule and pay for rides in real time. Users must also be able to indicate their use of a mobility assistance device through the application.
A driver-facing application that notifies drivers of pre-paid boarding passengers and provides turn by turn directions is also required.
