Women at Work

Robert Half Named to Forbes’ List

Ever since Bob and Maxine Half founded their eponymous talent agency in 1948, we have been advocates for women in the workforce. That’s why we are honored that Forbes has once again named Robert Half as one of the Best Employers for Women, an accolade we’ve received every year since 2019.

Forbes based its decision on an independent survey in which 50,000 professionals across the U.S. weighed in on various topics, such as working conditions, salary and diversity. To compile the list of best companies for women, the survey also asked the 30,000 women in the sample to rate their employer regarding parental leave, family support, pay equity and more. In addition, Forbes gathered information about these companies’ gender parity in senior management roles and on executive boards.

“We are committed to supporting the women who make up more than half of our global workforce and who choose to build their careers with us,” said M. Keith Waddell, president and CEO of Robert Half. “Diversity and inclusion are critical to the success of our business, and this recognition acknowledges our dedication to creating and maintaining an equitable workplace.”

Our commitment to women at work and their professional advancement does not end with our own employees or the talent we place. Robert Half offers advice on how women can navigate career transitions (expected or not), negotiate salaries confidently, find a professional mentor and more. Our executive directors regularly lead seminars on topics ranging from leadership and hiring and compensation trends to organizational culture and the future of work — often with an emphasis on women.

Amplifying women’s voices

Internal initiatives like the Global Women’s Employee Network (GWEN), launched in March 2021, help us close the gender gap. Comprising 1,000-plus employees of Robert Half and our consulting and internal audit subsidiary Protiviti, GWEN’s mission is to champion and amplify women’s perspectives while creating networks, community, and growth opportunities for women.

The group holds monthly meetings where members around the world receive GWEN-related operational and program updates and participate in panel sessions and other activities. GWEN also recently completed a Lean In Circles pilot in North America, enabling small groups to discuss common interests and share and learn from each other.

In addition, GWEN is able to expand its mission by leveraging partnerships with several organizations also working to amplify women’s voices, including LeanIn.org, Catalyst, Fairygodboss and Women in Technology International.

Robert Half supports the Women’s Empowerment Principles, a joint initiative of the UN Global Compact and UN Women. Learn more about the company’s social responsibility efforts here.

Other Forbes accolades

In November, we were named on Forbes’ list of World’s Top Female-Friendly Companies. Based on a survey of more than 85,000 women in 36 countries, participants evaluated their own employer, as well as other companies in their industry, on how well they perform across a series of gender-related topics such as pay equity and advancement opportunities.

In mid-October, we learned that Forbes had again named Robert Half one of the World’s Best Employers. This is Forbes’ most prestigious global employer accolade. The annual list is based on an independent survey of nearly 150,000 employees in 57 countries. Respondents rate their employers in various areas, including image, trust, gender equality, corporate social responsibility, corporate culture and benefits.

Earlier this year, Robert Half also earned the top spot on the annual ranking of America’s Best Professional Recruiting Firms, America’s Best Temporary Staffing Firms and America’s Best Executive Recruiting Firms for 2022. This is the first time any company has placed first in all three categories. Results are based on an independent survey of external recruiters, hiring managers and job candidates. The 22,400 respondents rated organizations based on their direct experiences.

Additionally, for the fourth consecutive year, Robert Half was named one of Forbes’ Best Employers for Diversity. Companies selected for the list are recognized for inclusion efforts related to age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation equality and general diversity, as well as feedback from an independent survey of 60,000 U.S. workers at companies with at least 1,000 employees.
