Miriam Barcellona Ingenito

Miriam Barcellona Ingenito is the first director of the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) since its formal recognition as the Department of FI$Cal in July 2016. She began her tenure at FI$Cal in September 2015 with the benefit of 20 years of public policy experience in California state government. Her range of expertise includes legislative, fiscal, administrative and environmental issues.

“The center of our strategic plan, continuous improvement and excellent customer service, provides the impetus for us to now ask how we might improve the FI$Cal system in order to best serve our end users. With our end users in mind, we once again used a human-centered design approach in developing our priorities for 2022.”
“Moving forward, we will continue to improve our world-class customer service, strengthen our robust security, fine-tune our data management strategy, and continue our aggressive journey to the cloud.”
“Now that FI$Cal is the owner and operator of the state’s integrated cash management, accounting, budget and procurement system, we have already begun to streamline the way state government does business,” says Miriam Barcellona Ingenito, director of the Financial Information System for California.
“This is a huge moment in FI$Cal’s history, and one in which the state can take great pride,” writes Miriam Barcellona Ingenito, director of FI$Cal. “A look back serves as a reminder of all that we have accomplished.”
“I look back on this tremendous effort, this journey we have taken on as a state, to do something truly remarkable — to replace hundreds of legacy systems while simultaneously on-boarding over 150 departments. The state of California has proven to have the most dedicated and resilient workforce while remaining flexible through this transformation,” writes Miriam Barcellona Ingenito, director of the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).
"I look forward to defining our IT project completion and success based on what functions are in operation. We are focusing on what remains — the final build-out of the system, departments successfully transitioning, and the ongoing maintenance of the system by the Department of FI$Cal."
